It's a fantastic day today... but I'm stuck inside writing an English paper.  If I can just survive English, Physics and Logic I'll be all done for the summer.  Whee!  At least I have Gunther here to help me get through the pain.

I finally rented Flying Daggers and enjoyed it thoroughly.  It dragged a little at the end but overall the movie was excellent.  I was really struck by the use of color in the film.  I've never noticed the use of color so much before.  Very beautiful.

Enough of this.  Time to go back to Death and the King's Horseman.  Yeah!  Wait, I mean the other word: booo!

Good movies for colour... by Metatone (4.00 / 1) #1 Sat May 07, 2005 at 12:08:28 PM EST
Shanghai Triad (naturally, same director) (Redder than Red) aka Yao a yao yao dao waipo qiao

Gladiator uses it pretty heavily in places too.

Added to the list.

I wasn't impressed by Gladiator.  It was tedious in a masturbatory kind of way and Russel Crow wasn't at his best.

was certainly nothing special, but I did like the subtle use of colour in various scenes.

I take it that you haven't seen The Cook the Thief His Wife & Her Lover then?

I'll have to add that to the queue (and by queue I mean the post-it note on my desk).

The use of colour isn't exactly subtle, but it's certainly got an in-your-face stylishness about it.
